About Family Eye Care
Eden has been home to Turner Family Eye Care since shortly after World War II.

After more than 50 years of practicing optometry, Dr. Roy Turner retired in 2001 from the practice he founded.    He started his eye care practice in 1949 after completing school at the Northern Illinois College of Optometry.   He attended optometry school after serving as a 16-year-old volunteer in the Sea Bees of the U.S. Navy at the end of World War II.

“I was looking for a small town of less than 25,000 people in which to set up an office,” Dr. Turner said.    “Eden was a great opportunity because the textile workers needed good eye sight to be able to do their jobs. The visual requirements of the people of this area were greater.  I love this area.  This is home to me.”

Dr. Turner and his wife Elaine raised their son Lee here.

In 1979, Lee graduated from the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis and joined his father in the practice at it’s current location.
